  • A/C Controls

    Hi All,
just to clarify it's not me , when I activate the a/c and push the right hand knob, the a/c comes on ok but when I push the left hand button (for rear a/c) it doesn't engage and the only way I can get it to go is by pushing the rear control switch which activates it ok but if I try to then press from the front panel it switches off !!! surely you can activate the a/c from the front as well as the rear ??? hopefully its just a fault and they'll fix it, starting to annoy me now.........
    cheers,
    Dave

To activate the rear airco, press the rear button followed by the auto button. Took a bit for me to find out also. fred

As I feared, I tried that too but it still goes tits up, also the "cab recycle" button is hit and miss, ie , when I start the car that button is on by itself, that doesn't bother me I just switch it off, but it shouldn't do that aye ?

Sounds like a fault indeed. Unfortunately, these things can happen. Maybe Toyota will perform a reset or firmware reload (assuming this is possible), or else a replacement of the control unit. Either way, not much you can do yourself these days without the Toyota diagnostic systems. Let us know what it was please. Fred

I have found the recirc is always on when you first start, I think it is something to do with getting to the temp that is set because if you turn the temp up it will go off on its own.

          Cheers

I have a 150 diesel auto, and I can activate the rear A/C from the front. I press the left hand knob ("rear"), and I can then turn the knob to adjust the rear temp, or press the ^ arrows to adjust rear fan speed. Press the left hand knob again and you have control of the front A/C. Definately sounds like you have a fault.

Thanks guys I'm not the brightest star but I think its safe to say it is faulty, basically if its working and it switches off then wont start after pressing and you've switched on at the rear (still don't think you should have to do that) then there's something not right aye ? btw anyone else confirm David's theory with the recycle button ?
              cheers again,
              Dave

Having the recirc come on automatically (read that as whenever it feels like it) is an option that can be turned off, but only by a Toyota sevice centre. Have a read of the owners manual (options?)

It also depends on the temperature setting, the lower the setting (less than 22) the more likely it will start in recirc. It may also have something to do with the outside temperature as well as the internal setting.

Recirc in my 150 switches automatically. Did it to me a couple of times yesterday (heading to the Blue Mountains) where the outside temp changes fairly rapidly as you're driving up/down the mountains. Have been meaning to look it up in the manual but.....maybe one of these days
