  • iPhone 4S Bluetooth pairing issue

    Hi there

I did a few searches and cant seem to find the answer anywhere so was hoping someone has solved the same issue

I have an new iPhone 4s, that while it pairs with the 150 via bluetooth, dosnt respond in any way. i.e if you manually dial from the phone it wont actually make a call. If you hit the "off hook" button it dosnt engage the phone either.

I have tried deleting the phone and repairing to no avail.

I have previously had an HTC Mozart happily paired, so am wondering what the issue could be or if there is some trick to the installation proceess as I notice the on screen menu and steps does not exactly match the manual?

    Any help appreciatted.

Is this a GXL? I have no issues with my iphone 4s. If you press and hold the home button, then release after a few seconds, you should hear siri over the car stereo. The beep beep tone that is

      Interesting XWGT!!!

My 4S is doing the same thing. It was working perfectly but stopped working about a week ago. At this point my troubleshooting has led me to believe it is the phone. I've tried my wife's 3GS, it worked fine and I had Toyota test it during the 20K service. So my next step will be to reload the phone software.

Will let you know how I go when I get around to it. It may be a week or two as I'm heading north and the phone is way down the list of things to do.

I have no issues with a 4s (except for when I had Bluetooth turned off )

Phone calls and music without issue. When I dial from the phone it asks me if I want to talk via the phone or the car. When in the car, the stereo shows that it is connected and shows the phones signal strength.

          Thanks for the replies guys
I will try deleting it and repairing it again and ensure the phone firmware is up to date.
The home button may be the key.........as when i pair it I use the tune function to navigate the menu.......

          Cheers

Well due to the bad weather I did the firmware reload on the phone.

Happy to report that the Bluetooth is up and running as normal.

So XWGT I suggest you get on iTunes and try to refresh your firmware. Make sure you back up your phone first!!!!!

            Good Luck

Anyone with a VX sat nav pack (or kakadu) able to listen to music via Bluetooth? I have a 4s as well. Phone works fine. Never been able to get music via bluetooth (only via USB cable).

To listen to music via Bluetooth you need to pair your phone as an audio device not a phone. This option comes up during the pairing process. It (the phone) will then work as both a phone and a audio device without the need to connect with the USB cable.

                Happy pairing

                  Nadsy,

I have a Kakadu and the iphone 4. The phone works fine but I have never been able to get music to stream. There are many comments, such as Pinko's above, that refer to selecting 'audio' during the pairing process but this is never presented as an option for me. I have exhausted google looking for an answer! Perhaps the VX/Kakadu are different in some way? I'd love a simple solution as the USB cable provides a hopeless interface on the Satnav screen and disables the phone control at the same time ("accessory connected").

Hi dukaka. Yes, thanks for your response pinko, but I have also tried pairing/un-pairing several times. The music system in the kakadu (VX with sat nav pack) is different. There is no media option during pairing (just phone). Cable is useful to have for charging etc..., but even my motorcycle helmet can stream from the iPhone ;-(

Guys have tried reloading the phone firm ware. Not just checking to ensure you have the latest version? It takes a while but that's what I had to do to fix mine.
iTunes will do all the work for you, all have to do is connect it to the computer and chose the option that restores the phone to original. Once it's done it will ask if you wish to restore your profile.
Once done any glitch should be fixed.
Also are you aware when pairing you can turn the volume knob to chose between different menus. This is how you find the audio device. Note it may use a different descriptor but it's all in the manual.
Sorry if I'm giving a lesson in sucking eggs.

From the Toyota web site not sure if those asking about the audio are aware below mentiones a limitation with audio streaming.

The audio quality is superb whether you're listening to the radio, the CD player, music from a USB memory stick^ or your iPodŽ+^ or using Bluetooth™# connectivity to stream music, the sound is awesome throughout the car. (Bluetooth™# audio streaming is not available in models with DVD enabled Satellite Navigation.)

Thanks for that. Went through the manual (DVD sat nav entertainment system one), & it had nothing about pairing for audio. Such a shame that you option up and loose out. Would definately go for the vms system if I had my time again.
