Just had my 20k service done at Toyota and not happy... Informed the dealership in advance about the well known dash rattle. When I picked it up, I was basically told they had not done anything about it and adviced to bring it in on a colder day. Sort of understand that they need to observe the rattle before fixing it, but one would think the most common causes would be known by now. Also got a call that the pollen filter was very dirty. A replacement made the capped service jump from $210 to $280. Slightly over the top I think. But, the thing that annoyed me most is that they claimed to have balanced an rotated the tyres and in fact did not (and admitted to it afterwards with some lame excuse). In short, I feel ripped off by the dealership and would love to bring my business elsewhere. If anyone could recommend a smallish non Toyota workshop/mechanic in Melbourne that offers reliable service please let me know. The dealership is trying to make some quick money here but in the process risks losing a long standing customer (with two Toyotas). On a positive, Toyotas have few problems in general and after driving a loaner for the day it feels great driving the Prado again

I believe forum rules wont allow me to share that and frankly I think the large dealerships are all alike. They probably get their service revenue targets set high with corresponding bonusses and penalties and its all downhill from there. I have been happy with this one up to know so thats another reason not to publicly bag them.

Yeah - I'm dubious as to whether the dealers ever rotate the tyres or if they do they certainly don't do a proper five wheel rotation

I've used Ultratune a fair bit in the past. Im in Sydney, so can't recommend one in Melbourne, but their rates are around 1/2 of that of a dealer (I've had Volvo, Jeep and Toyota serviced there). They use genuine parts (though they do give you the option), and their work complies with the warranty rules.2010 Prado GX 3.0L TD - "Paul" - TJM XGS 40mm Lift Kit, Firestone Coilrite Airbags, 5000kg Rated Front Recovery Points, Sure Power Battery Isolator and Dual Battery Setup, Airtec Snorkel, HID High Beam Headlights.

Non Toyota, Guest 4x4 are excellent and have a very good reputation.
As for Toyota, Guest send you to Harris Wood for warranty work, I use Nunawadding Toyota if
occasionally (in case a service notice has been issued) and except in one instance when the car was
new and they replaced a marked interior door trim with a wood grain unit (mine was silver grey)
and the mechanic didn't notice! they have done a good job.

I have purchased my Prado from Nunawading Toyota.
Apart from the interior trim issue are you happy with their service?
Just want to know if worth going there for service to maintain relationship.

Hi Disco4,
Have had no issues with the work apart from the trim, I check my car carefully
before I take it in for a service and after and they have always done what they
have listed on the service sheet and haven't done any damage to the vehicles
paint work etc which is a bonus
Also when they did the bull bar bracket changeover they did exactly as I asked
with regards to my after market winch without complaint. At that time I also asked
them to change the inner guard liners as they had originally been trimmed to narrow
when the bull bar was fitted nearly three years prior. Initially they said that Toyota
most likely wouldn't come at that due to the long period of time but when I went
to pickup the car they had changed them anyway so was quite happy with that.
They have also gone out of their way to help with other things such as supplying the
winch kit and other items I have purchased so overall very happy with the service
so far.
Cheers

Thanks for the feedback.
Even though they are fair distance away from me I will give them a go for service.
Apparently you can book it in & they will service it in front you.
You have also given me good feedback because they are fitting my bar, winch, snorkel & lift.
Apparently they are licensed to fit ARB equipment.
Thanks again.
