When you are within the warranty period, definately replace it with genuine, no question, just to avoid any arguments or confusion if there is any problem whatsoever with the fuel system or injectors etc, after that I really can't comment. I would be worried that the water sensor device at the bottom of the fuel filter may not work properly with a non genuine filter etc...its too important to make a mistake with I guess...so stick with genuineLast edited by brogers; 26-11-2012, 07:09 AM.SE Qld: GX 150GD Auto, (Feb'16 build): TJM T15 steel b bar, 9,500lb TORQ winch, TJM s steps, Rhino Pioneer Platform (42102B 1928X1236mm), front recovery points, Wynnum towbar, P3 brake controller, TNN Underbody guards, UHF, TREKtable & LED striplight, Custom Fridge & Drawers, Waeco CFX50, 9inch illuminator 160W LED spots, 40mm lifted Dobinson Suspension (Zordo's), ScanguageII, 30 Sec Wing Awning

We only use genuine fuel filters (under the bonnet)on the 150 series now , we have had a lot of trouble with air leaks with the non gen stuff for some reason , maybe there was a bad batch as i would think plenty of people use the after market stuff with no problems2012 Graphite GXL T/D Auto, with all the normal crap you fit

I also asked the service guy at 60k service, if the main filter was going to be changed. When he said no, I asked for a new one to be installed. Cost at local Toyota dealer.. $100.84 for filter, and $57.50 extra labour to fit it. No wonder these dealerships are getting flasher and flasher. I to have installed a pre-filter, a STANADYNE fuel manager(with water bowl), and 3 micron element.
