Fido, I hear where you are coming from but i work on the principle the vehicle is in my hands 99% of the time and 1% of the time with Toyota or other service provider, and unless it was an electrical problem they are working on i see no reason as to why they would disconnect the AUX battery anyway.

Fair enough, I just thought it was pretty common to disconnect the battery during servicing. I only have the starting battery so I'm not familiar with how the dual battery systems interconnect (i.e. if one can be disconnected without affecting the other).

If you really wanted to turn off the unit..just reach up behind the rearview mirror and pull out the power plug from the camera. so does it have a weak spot? yeah..i guess it does.

There is that, shame they can't make it all self contained and still cater for long recording times.

Not sure if my other question got overlooked, just wanted to know if the Vico has a GPS option.

I've also got a go pro hero 2, but I like the idea of set and forget and looping recording of a dash cam

I do agree there but I still think the cost is prohibitive.

Agreed, it's not cheap. But you can never have too many gadgets. (Or mods and ideas for mods provided by pradopoint). My wife usually agrees with all computer based purchases because I tell her we need them ( I work in IT). This is proving a harder sell...

Just the CD player going. What you will find is if you travel with a window down like I do 99% of the time at higher speeds the wind really distorts the sound, as you can hear when I start to slow down at the 80k zone the sound gets better, but with window up sound is clear as a bell.........Cheers Steve

I'd be getting the GPS checked looks like it may be little out given the speed as you pass by the 80km zone . Looks like a nice addition and now also on my shopping list?

Here is a couple of pics of where mine is mounted just behind rear view mirror [IMG][/IMG]

Steve can you take a pic from the inside the prado towards your mirror( from the drivers seat) . With the camera how you have it does it sit above the sightline of the top edge of the rear vision mirror, when it is mounted on the windscreen?
Why I ask is I have scanguage there and it would not fit for me if it does. Otherwise I may be interested.

When the cam is set in position for a good view, will the view move when the missus wants to check her eyelashes???

So in simple terms, does the cam mount to the mirror and does it move with the mirror?

She never seems to put the mirror back in the same spot.

I'm thinking blackvue...
