A tip for new players here - if you connect it to a permanent supply, despite what has been suggested it records 24/7 although the mode does change to parked. If you use it to record your fun day out and don't download it that night (or manually turn it off) by the time you look at it next day it will probably be overwritten. My 32GB card lasts about nine hours.

It seems to wake up when there is light - recording starts at approx 6:00AM when I go in the garage and turn the light on but don't go near the car. It does record all day (during daylight) without the car being touched though.
