And here I am spewing because some little pric* took mine for a blast down the road over speed humps. Really really feel for you and hope it goes in your favour. Even some thing like this may have been able to be proved by having a dash camera, would have picked up audio sound for sure wether it was the little tool saying oh f*** I forgot to put oil back in (which I totally agree with the other comments on this) or the possible sound of the engine. Hope you get it sorted buddy, nothing worse.............Cheers Steve

Got my gx serviced today at toyota. Little nervous as it was an ex QLD gov car but all went well with all my warranty issues covered. But after its 60,000 service it's going to my mate and regular mech. Most dealerships only have 1 or so clued up mechs with the rest being a filler of young guys and people passing through etc. dealerships look nice and shiny but I'd rather my known mechanic any day.

The knock started on the test drive... AFTER they did the service...
Thats more than a coincedence.
The little prick drove it back to the shop, filled it with oil THEN reported it.
Man I would have to take a ice bath cos my blood would be boiling.

With the exception of the electrics (which is sounding more like a detailer got carried away with the gurney), it was a great car (for the 8 weeks I had it!!)

Though you guys may want a look at the destruction....
Still in limbo. Consumer Protection believe the most likely scenario is they started it up and idled it for a while with no oil, doesn't believe the damage is consistent with the card being driven to destruction (9km they did).
But he doesn't believe the card has been submerged (and therefore Toyota's claim that it was a potential cause to premature failure).
Though, it looks like whoever replaced the window before it was wholesales f*cked it up, as the car has been sitting outside a workshop for the past 6 or so weeks and has a decent amount of water under the carpets.
Great.....

They have started it up, got out of the vehicle and "checked for leaks" etc. As a result they wouldn't have seen the check oil light (not sure if the vehicle stops when it detects this. By the looks it doesn't) until they heard grinding noises or the engine stopped due to seizing. If they drove it they would have seen the oil light and damage would have been a lot more one would think.Winston.

No denying that crank has been run without an oil supply. It stinks that they don't have the balls to stand up and be counted. My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Else, it is off to small claims court.

Consumer Protection guys has spoken to bearing and oil companies and both have said it is theoretically possible, but doubt I would have been able to do the 5000km I did without hearing anything.
A mate also said the lack of oil deposits or signs of oil burn tarnish on the crank or hot spots to show there was no oil present when it occurred, therefore that should save me from Toyota's masked noise theory.

Whilst your story is disgusting and they are CLEARLY in the WRONG i wouldnt personally be playing all your cards open on the internet like this. They the dealership and Toyota know your every move and information from posts and have already concocted their next BS reply before you present them with it.
I have personally seen this happen with another car club and Subaru .. they even went to the extent of becoming a paid member to be able to read a thread to know what information was being posted. My 2cents
Cheers Nath
