I doubt there's much information on running 35's and as far as I'm aware no one has done it on a 150.

It won't be easy, especially if the vehicle must remain street legal.

The main issue will fitting the tyres inside the wheel arch especially under suspension compression. The tyres will certainly rub and tear the guards apart. Historically people would simply lift the suspension and then add enough body lift to avoid rubbing, but with air bags, body lifts are a no-no.

The ideal solution is to add a decent lift and then have the panels professionally tubbed/chopped so large tyres fit in side the wheel well (expect to pay upwards of $3000k for tubbing). Somewhat like the artic trucks except you're cutting in to the body, rather than extending out with large flares. In Australia we're not able to extend out wide like Artic trucks due to our highly restrictive rules around increasing vehicle track width.

The other option would be a taller customised lift and then limit uptravel with extended bump stops so the tyres won't compress up into the wheel arches. This is less ideal for offroading though, as it'll limit articulation and impair it's handling.

I should point out that one of the biggest #legal# hurdles would be regarding rim offset and upper control arms. Mine's a 90, so I'm not fluent with 150's, but I'll assume they have a similiar issue where wide tyres will rub against the upper arm (correct me if I'm wrong guys). Typical solutions for this is aftermarket upper arms and/or wide offset rims - both of which are a challenge in terms of certification. An alternative solution for this issue would be narrow profile tyres.

Would you need to change diff ratios?

I have to ask why? I've just moved to the Prado world after about 7 years of solid axel cars on 35"s and for anything other then mudding or rocks their too big. On the beach they were a pain in the ass, even with re-geared diffs and a Petrol Wrangler and they were a constant load on everything.

I have on my 120, had to trim the excess fat on front body mounts to allow full lock. I run 0 offset rims and had to roll the rear guards to stop the tyres from chopping out when driving.

Soon to come-35's and longer shocks.

Lots of people in Iceland and Norway running 35" on 150 Prado. Trimming the fenders is required. You can see what Artic Trucks does To fit 35" here

                      Gotta love them Article Trucks

It's the old story that almost anything is possible if you spend enough money. An Arctic Truck conversion for Australia would likely cost more than the Prado itself, and getting it past rego would be no guarantee.

Yes, we really some big wheels like that for the snow in places like Broome, Adelaide, Cairns etc. And some mesh over the windows to keep the bears and moose out.

We are really lucky that our drop bears are so small that we don't have to worry about anything other than keeping the sunroof closed.

Personally I wouldn't muck around with the Artic truck 35" conversion, when I win the lotto and can afford my dream expedition to the South Pole I would go straight for the 44" conversion http://www.arctictrucks.com/Pages/4707
