Disabling Seat belt Warning Noise

G'day all.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to disable the annoying beeping noise when the drivers seat belt is not plugged in?

I know there is a setting to manage the noise levels of the "beeping", but this goes no where.

I suspect I will have to hack the software....

Hi DigginIt, why dont you try to unplug it under the seat. There is one switch for your bum on the seat that detects weight...
p.s leave all the other looms alone!

If you have a willing dealer they can disable it for you. IF

I haven't had it done as it doesn't worry my. The drivers door one however, that annoys the absolute S@$# out of me.

I tried the dealer and said they won't do it. I'd be more inclined to unplug the wire at the seat belt than the one for the weight sensor on the seat as the weight one could be used in regards to whether the airbag is triggered or not. I know in some cars if it doesn't detect a certain weight the airbag won't deploy but this is more for the passenger seat as there should always be someone sitting in the drivers seat. I haven't looked at the Prado setup yet but in my previous Pajero the switch in the seat belt is a normally closed one and when you plug the seat belt in it goes open circuit so it was quite simple to just unplug the connector so it always thought the seat belt was plugged in.

Thats all we do in the Hiluxs, just rip the plug out. Either that or stab the little speaker with a toothpick till it dies.

About 3 minutes after the fast beep starts after the slow beeps, it stops :-)

I think pulling the plug from the seatbelt is a goer. I cant deal with unnecessary beeping!!

I just got my dealer to do it.

Told them I read in the service manual that it is an option to have it on. No questions asked.
