When I first posted the possibility of a diagnostic interface being alternative to a Scangauge I wrote that my son had one installed in his SS Commodore.
For those of you who may not have read it, it's a OBD2 interface that will transmit information about all the vehicles systems to your mobile phone
I have just tried it out on my 150 series Prado to see if it would work.
The model he has is ELM 327mini and it works just fine.
I don't know exactly what data is available on a Scangauge, but this one certainly has a lot.
I looked out for transmission temp, but this item does not seem to be available which for me, with an auto is disappointing.
I guess if you have a manual box, no problem.
My son paid five bucks for his, but he just told me the same is available on Ebay for a buck with free postage?
Anyway, for a buck check it out and have a bit of fun with a 'show and tell' with your friends.
My son did point out to me tho that pushing buttons on your mobile to see the info as you go along might draw undesirable attention from the boys in blue.
So take care me lads.
Oh a reminder, apparently some won't work on I phones.
Enjoy. Graeme
