  • Squeaking noise coming from suspension

Hey guys, I've got a 2014 GXL. Last week it's suspension started squeaking on the front passenger side (happened right after it's 20k service). After much hassling with the service department they 'fixed' the problem and told me the noise was caused by loose bolts in my suspension.

The noise came back a couple days ago and much worse but was now coming from the rear passenger wheel. After speaking with the service department again the manager told me that the squeak is from the suspension bushes, he said that when it rains water can get into the bushes and wash the lubrication oil out and cause it to squeak. He said it was a common problem but wasn't a saftey concern and it happens all the time after rain.

My question is, is this normal for a prado? Should I expect the suspension to be squeaking after every heavy rain or is the service manager just BSing me to keep me coming back to the dealership?

    Any input is welcome guys.
    Cheers,
    Mike.

Bwahahahah, sorry mate but sounds like BS to me.

All the factory suspension bushes other than the sway bars are steel cased rubber, no lubrication to wash out.....

Check suspension bolts and make sure they are tight. Have you got a lift put in lately? If so loosen all the bolts while the car is on the ground then retighten them all. My Prado is a early 2014 with 22,000Km on it, lifted suspension and is quiet as a mouse. Short of that take it back, tell them the noise is unexceptable in a $60K plus car and fix it, if it's a dry bush lubricate it!

I just had this issue with mine.... After practically taking the the entire front end apart and putting it back together to no avail I ended up swapping the Struts from left to right and the squeak moved along with it.....

The fix ended up much to my surprise to being a simple tighten of the nut at the very top\center of the Strut....
