    hi guys

im new to pradopoint and thought i would register to gain some knowledge/advice from other prado owners !! i would love to hear what you have done to your prados suspension and tyre sizes. i want to put a 2 inch tough dog suspension lift on my 2012 diesel gx prado and am a bit lost as to what size tyre i can put on. I am getting a lot of conflicting advice about what size tyre i can put on. i would love to gain some extra hieght as clearance is an issue but i want to avoid any tyre rub as well. please help.... what have you put on that works ??

    Welcome to Pradopoint, Deta,

I have a 2" lift on my 120 series. Many have one on their 150's.

The 265/70/17 tyres seem to be a good option. Just be aware they are slightly larger than legal in most if not all states.

yep in WA (as I am) you can't go over 2" TOTAL lift, no matter how you achieve it, so that includes tyres, suspension, etc. So if you put a 2" lift on, then you can't legally put bigger tyres on.

For interest, the Vic guidelines say:

            Thanks corigator .
I don't want to go to big with the tyres but would like to go as big as I can without any issues from the local constabulary and definitely without any issues with the vehicles performance/handling etc etc.... I put a 285/70/17 against the vehicle and wow - they are huge. A tyre shop that I phoned said that they would fit this size tyre and take care of any rubbing issues by smashing out the guard !!!!! Not sure I wanna actually do this.... Be keen to hear from people that have fitted a bigger tyre without any headaches :::::

Thanks Grumpy, that's the national stuff, is there anything anywhere to say WA follows this now ?

                  Hi Maulbeagle.
As far as I can determine VSB14 is what WA Transport are using.
                  http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licen...ht-vehicle.asp
Scroll down to "modifications requiring approval". This references VSB14.

I have a 2015 150 series with a 2" lift and 265/70 17 Cooper tyres, and I don't think I would want to go much bigger in tyre size due to possible clearance issues when the wheel tucks up.

The extra diff clearance gained with 70 profile is well worth the size increase and for what it is worth, I would not worry about legalities of exceeding 50mm lift because what it will depend on your reference point. I expect you are allowed a min of 50mm from a brand new vehicle with new tyres fully pumped up with stiff unsettled suspension. I have OME and around 45mm up from new standard suspension (last time i measured) and now that my 70 series BFG are nearing needing replacement, they are no bigger than a brand new 65 series profile. In an auto you can feel the vehicle starting to struggle with 5th gear with the bigger tyres so keep this in mind when sizing your replacements as well.

Thanks for your advice guys.... I've just put a two inch lift in it today. I bought bilstien shocks with king springs but ended up with a bit more than two inches !!!! Wtf ......
From measurements taken I have gained 75mm in the rear and 105mm in the front. Bit confused to say the least. The front springs are ktfr-101h and the rear are ktrr-102. I know that things need to settle a bit but am concerned that this may give me other complications. I will be calling the supplier on Monday where I bought the suspension kit from to make sure that I have received the right kit. I have read other forums where this has happened also. Any advice ???

Please provide the final height measurement, from the bottom of rim to the wheel arch.

If the front is excessively high, then you probably have installed the spring seat upside down.

                            Here we go again.......

100mm at front is high, but you may have been down 40mm to start.
So many springs to choose from & not always the best advise.

                            Amts will sort you out!
