Air con dial stuck in.

Hi everyone, we collected a 2010 GXL a couple of weeks ago and yesterday we discovered that the air conditioning dial on the passenger side might have copped a big hit at some point. It still works but is really hard to get a grip on because it's been pushed in so far. Does anyone know a good way to pull it back out to where it should be without breaking anything - I can gently prize out the outer dial to where it should be, but the silver 'Rear' button seems pretty firmly stuck!

The center dash climate control module is only clipped in and can be pulled directly out using two hands ,it is a bit stiff the first time. Might allow you to get a better look to fix it.

wow I was carrying a rather long item in my old silver 150 and it slid forward under a quick brake (inattentive) and it pushed the left button in... thought it was buggered ... I pulled the fascia out and there was no way to get it back out.... I just forgot about it as the temp was adjustable so was the fan speed the dial I just didn't use although it still worked though just bloody hard to get a decent grip on it....

Silicone spray around it and gently pry it out or pull it apart, fix the bent mount and reset and assemble?
