  • Genuine Alloy Bar

    Hey fellas..
New to the forum and im after some info & advice im about to buy a new 2016 GXL prado but the sales guy said it would void my warranty if i fit a ARB aftermarket bullbar as theres a weight issues and will crack or damage the chassis. And insisting on fitting a genuine toyota alloy bar instead. Did my research and the steel bars seem alot safer than alloy and the fact the color coded deluxe bar looks mint .

What a load of BS... I guess that is typical salesman's pitch.
If that were true there's a lot of warranty voided cars on the road and ARB/TJM and other manufacturers would be out of business.

      Typical sales bullshit.

"The fitment of aftermarket accessories may void your warranty" is what the owners manual states, emphasis on the may! If something goes wrong under the warranty period they have to prove the aftermarket accessory caused it, not the other way around. If they manage to prove that you go back to the accessory manufacturer/fitter and talk to them about it, as the accessory is not fit for purpose. There are heaps of other legal loopholes like "using within the design scope" etc.

At the end of the day ARB couldn't afford to produce a product that will cause chassis cracks, that combined with the thousands of ARB barred vehicles on the roads without cracked chassis means you'll be fine. Tell them to stick the alloy bar where they were trying to get you with the price of it.

      Cheers,
      Andy

In addition to what other's have already said above, note that the genuine bar is not winch compatible.
