OK I thought some of you may be interested in the South Australian launch. Pretty much the same as every where else but we built the track and assisted with the launch. As well I have taken the opportunity to put some explanations on each of the photographs. Sadly the shots are not mine but are provided with the blessing of Toyota

So if you want a look at NG Prado in action go to http://jalbum.net/browse/user/album/407354/

Thanks for sharing Rob. Was this launch at Saunders Gorge? I know Brenton was busy building a test track for Toyota, and I could only think it was for the new Prado.. I think followme4wd are using their test track for training purposes too..

Yes this is the track we designed and built with Brenton's input on the plant and equipment. We all got very tired of shifting rocks as every time we dug a whole we found plenty. Still it allowed us to create some nice rock gardens and have a store of them to increase the track difficulty as we need.
We have two training tracks at Saunders Gorge now. Our introductory track has been in place for three years and this new and advanced training area is of course the most recent additon to our training services. The track was voted second best across all the launch sites. Sadly Werribbee in Victoria won that vote but they have plenty of money and spent years developinng their setup. So we are very happy with the result. There will only be supervised access to the new track given it requires advanced skills to negotiate safely. We are also carrying out a lot of product training for commercial clients as it is a great location

Best of all its reasonably close, not far out of Birdwood. If you ever get short for test (aka stunt) drivers, let me know
PS was this the launch that they organized choppers to take out the Toyo Exec's?

There was a chopper in the area doing ETSA line work so people could have easily jumped to conclusiions All the VIP's were escorted to the site and driven around by the team

I leave the stunt driving alone, driving 4WD down >60 degree slopes and other OTT 4WD stuff for the cameras is more than enough excitement for me. I have my very expensive public liability insurance to think of

So what are the requirements to get onto the advanced track?

Access is limited to clients under the supervision of commercial training organistions. The 4WD clubs have plenty of access to similiar areas but commercial operators are constrained to weekdays mostly. This is particularly the case with Peake. So this area is to overcome that particular matter. It will not be part of the Saunders Gorge track complex where the public can pay a fee and drive the track. Those tracks are already being damaged by people not lowering their tyre pressures and not driving the track in the appropriate gear and range. Preservation of this area for commercial purposes is paramount

Some may take offence at this but it is a simple and pragmatic business matter and it reflects a need to protect an investment and manage risks. I see how people drive the track we put in at Bendleby Ranges and the fact that we have had to close sections of that as people ripped it up so we have no intention of seeing that happen again

Our requirement is that clients will have completed our basic training program before we allow them on to the advanced area
