    Re: Delivery times?

Can't say I've ever been given the run around from Dealers on buying New Cars.
Like Richo, my last 2 Toyota 4WD's have come from Sci-Fleet, and I've been very pleased with how they've communicated delivery times.
I did wait for almost 3 months on my first Hilux from them, but it was a brand new model at the time and was told how long I'd have to wait up front. I was a bit luckier next time round with he 120 Prado and only had to wait for 1 1/2 months for the D4D to arrive. I was told initially it would take 3months as D4D's were in demand, but a week later I was told I'd get it earlier as the dealer had just received notification of their allocated stock, and my order just happened to match up with the arrivals coming.
On both accounts the sales person looking after me did a great job of keeping me in the loop and I'll continue to buy new Toyota's from them in the future.

I guess it all comes down to who ya deal with and if the new car experience was a positive one.

    Just my 2c anyways

    Cheers

I told them deposit back or they would now be in breach of contract. Guess what nearly a month for the deposit to be returned. I thought dodgy car salesman had gone...apparently not.
      Regards, Richo.
Thanks for the info Richo, I don't have a VIN on my order/contract but at the time of ordering they told me they had a white & silver in the model I wanted coming in by end of March, so far they are sticking to that date, although this week they did say could be beginning of April. So I will see what they say when they call me next week, I think I will ask what VIN mine will be as at should be in their system and I would have expected on a ship by now as well. I don't expect I will have it for Easter now which is a shame, was looking forward to having a play over the long weekend

        Re: Delivery times?

        Hi Guys,
well my delivery time for the 150 has just been blown out of the water. I was picking it up next week, ordered all the kit from ARB,(bar, winch and Lights) K&N Ultimate 4WD (snorken, rack, dual battery system, radio, suspension upgrade, Draw system with fridge slider and roof top camper)

My 150 got trashed in the car yard of big rock toyota with the hail storm Monday night, It is now an unkown delivery time.

I currently have a petrol 2009(purchased Nov) gxl 120 with 21K on the clock . It was going to be an interum vehicle until the 150 arrived, I love it , been been on the beachs east of Eperance through cape le grand and cape Arid, run it around the dunes of Lancelin, down some pretty rough tracks in the south west near margaret river. All this was done with a vehicle off the shop floor with no upgrades, I has been sensational. I am now seriously considering cancelling the 150 order and hanging on to the 120 for a couple of years and transfering all the purchasing towards the existing vehicle.

I have been following this forum since I ordered the 150 and I have been very interested in the different perspectives provided on the 2 vehicles. Thank you all for your thoughts, What really swayed my view was driving the "K&N Ultimate 4WD" fully kitted out 120 this afternoon, truely a great vehicle and the suspension upgrade was outstanding.
PS lots of storm damaged toyotas for sale in Perth

          Re: Delivery times?

Well delivery time is bang on when they said so can't complain really after all, they have just called and we have arranged for me to pick up next Tuesday 30-March 8:30am. They explained that they don't like to arrange pick up until they are sure they can hit the date/time sounds like they have been let down by delivery trucks etc before. I am assuming my car has come in to the dealer given they will need a few days to prep it and they are getting the VIN for me

Now I have to go rip my UHF /Fire Extinguisher etc out of the old vehicle.....oh an plan the upgrades !!

              Re: Delivery times?

Delivery time. Well I just thought I would tell you about my delivery time. It was about 3................hours. I saw a GX in the local dealer got 12k off retail and picked it up that afternoon. The long story is that it was a demo and registered as such. It has had some options like the 3 row seat pack. When I picked it I was distressed to find it has 18km on the clock. That's right 18km. So I got a new vehicle for a great price that had never been driven on the road even though it was a demo.
I really cant compain. It is in being fitted with a towbar and roof bars today.
              Regards

Arrval of next Prado shipment to Australia?

                  Hi all.
Am very much a newbie both to this forum (though it is fantastic!), and to the whole 4WD scene,
I LOVE my family's 2003 Prado & after much research & debating am about to purchase a 150 series diesel Kakadu.
Just interested in people's thoughts/opinions on the '09 vs '10 plated models, in light of resale, price drop etc.
ALSO can anyone confirm that the next shipment of Prados is due to arrive to Oz in May...?

My big decision is whether to buy an '09-plated ex-demo (197km on the clock) Kakadu for around $78,500, or a BRAND NEW now-available '10-plated Kakadu for $82,000.... both prices are good, I know, but if the next shipment is arriving soon, should I 'hang on' and try to get one of the 'now-available' '10-plated Kakadu's cheaper? Is the 'value' (in terms of re-sale, people's perception of 'a one year older car') of the Nov '09-plated Kakadu going to fall significantly when the next shipment arrives, thus making the currently-available '10-plated cars a better option for me to purchase right now? Is it worth the extra $3500 to purchase the '10-plated Kakadu NOW, in anticipation of a de-valuation of the '09-plated cars later in the year?
I'm planning on keeping this vehicle for 3-5 years...

Many thanks - hope all that wasn't TOO confusing!

I'd hold out for the '10 and crunch them on price

Re: Arrval of next Prado shipment to Australia?

                          Hi

We bought a 2009 December GXL 150, based on a savings of $8000.00 off RRP and the fact that this is our car, not a company car, and if as good as our 90 series Prado we will keep it for 13 years as well. So if you are going to change over regularly, negotiate for the best price on a 2010 model, but if you are going to keep the car beyond 4 or 5 years, go for the lowest price you can get on a 2009 as the sell price at that time will make very little difference.

Also this is the same model build so any issues won't be addressed until the next upgrade so there won't be any difference in perception between 2009 and 2010.

                          Regards, Richo.

197km for a demo is pretty good. I'm dubious when I see demos with 2-3000km on it.When I visited a dealer and wanted a test drive of a particular model that they had as a demo, but it wasn't available, they told me that the dealer principal has it and wasn't in today. The longer the chat went, the more you find out that the sales team gets to drive the demos home every now and then. The dealer principal would get the top of the range demos. So I'm quite cautious in buying demos as they are likely to be driven by quite a number of different staff and may be trashed when the engine is cold.
