I look after a number of motor dealers in my role as an accountant (dont all laugh at once!!!) Unfortunately for me no Toyota Dealers. I can speak from experience that all dealerships register a range of demonstrator/ "drive cars" which are used by dealer principals/managers/sales staff. Manufacturers will often "encourage" dealerships to purchase certain stocks particularly where the manufacturer has a desire to move product from its storage into dealerships. Demo's are almost always treated with great care ( the dealer principals do not enjoy their stock being "trashed") and are well maintained through their demonstrator life. Invariably however like all dealerships they will strive to lose as little as they can from the new car price at the point of sale.

Hi Guys,

My dealer advised me today that my diesel GXL is arriving in Fremantle on the 6th May. Takes 2 weeks to be prepared for delivery. My last order was trashed by the hail storm 4 weeks ago, 2 days prior to delivery.So its not a bad turnaround to have a repacement with in 6 weeks.

My dealer advised me today that my diesel GXL is arriving in Fremantle on the 6th May. Takes 2 weeks to be prepared for delivery. My last order was trashed by the hail storm 4 weeks ago, 2 days prior to delivery.So its not a bad turnaround to have a repacement with in 6 weeks.

Hi Dave
they apparently deliver it from the boat to a distribution centre, then fit bits such as airconditioners aa a way if reducing the import costs, then it goes to the dealer. it will have tow bar, tracklander roof rack, tyre upgrade BFG's rego etc fitted there. then i go to the big shop for ARB Bullbar, snorkle, suspension upgrade and lift, dual batteries, HF radio,HID spots, black widow drawers and fridge slider, 1 additional 12V point in rear, Hannibal car top tent. By then I will be ready to rumble

Just heard from toyota that for Perth its a 8 week wait for a auto d4 , they were a little taken back when asked them that I would want a 05/10 plated car as not to get a repaired hail damaged one Cheers Digger

Does anyone else whos still waiting for delivery have a "I want mine now" moment when someone else's new 150 drives past, I got till next week to wait and it gets worse the closer delivery gets.

I ordered my Kakadu 5 weeks ago and two days ago was advised I will probably have it on 7 July!
I understand that they are direct off a ship (apart from the [hopefully not 2 week] dealer prep) here in Darwin.

I just took delivery of a VX last Friday, wanted a Metal Storm instead of the red but the dealer could not guarantee delivery before mid July, and we will be in Qld then (have to run it in somehow ;^)

Hello all,

Not sure where you are located, but with a mass email to all Sydney dealers, I managed to find a Graphite GXL available now and meeting my price expectations. And tehre were quite a few dealers that in the line to take our money. A bit of searching around delivered the goods.

Hi trog,

have the same feelings except that all I have seen have been without additional pizzaz eg bars, lift, etc.
It reinforces the perception that the crew on this site are a minority and the majority are St Georges Terrace (Perth) Farmers .

I hope your vehicle proves all that you hope it to be as it is exciting time

Heaps of 150s on carsales.com also. I used it to get my 120 GXL instead of waiting the nine months the dealer said it would take. Found a different dealer who matched the price!!!!
