This seatbelt ding, was driving me crazy in the past few days. I've tried unplugging the wire under the seat, but then the "inactive airbag" light comes on. Since the "going to the dealer" option isn't available here (dealers in Saudi are there for one thing, selling cars, if something breaks, take it to a shop around the corner), I decided to investigate some more.
After getting the multimeter out, I quickly found, that the old "paperclip in the socket" trick wouldn't work, as it doesn't appear to be an on/of contact switch. So then, I unbolted the seat, subsequently, the seatbelt connector and the attached wire. Took this bit inside to a place were the AC is blowing, and start prying the two cover halves appart. Once I got to the inside of the connector, I found there's no switch, just something that looks like a "reed" contact (usualy operated by a small magnet). I also noted that, in "seatbelt attached" position the magnet was not in front of the contact. After a quick test drive with the contact detached, the problem was solved. Just undo the eletric tape, use a tie-rap to attach the cable plus contact somewhere under your seat.
Good thing is, there's no ding, and also no light on the dashboard and it's reversible, if you ever would wan't to for some reason.
In the attached link, you can see the unclipped connector in the front (why doesn't this board allow uploading in pics?)
