Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.
My diesel 2017 GXL Auto has had a shudder since brand new. I have been reporting it since day one basically. The shudder becomes apparent between 58-63km/h and feels like it is coming from the drive train.
So far the vehicle has had different drive shafts, wheels, tyres tried. A diff Damper fitted and tail shaft adjustment and nothing has resolved.
Now, after all this, Toyota Australia are saying that:
“in their experience this issue can be caused by a steel bullbar - the extra weight causing a harmonic imbalance through the chassis which manifests as a pulsation.
Toyota do not supply a genuine steel bullbar for this reason, only an alloy option for this model. “
It had an ARB Deluxe Steel bar factory fitted from new.
I have contacted ARB to see if they are aware of this issue, but wondered if any of the other thousands of people who get ARB steel bars fitted are experiencing this shudder.
Shudder feels like it’s coming from the drive train and is very obvious between 58-63km/h.
Obviously the only way to test is to have the bull bar removed and take it for a drive, however my dealer has said that if the issue goes away I will be required to pay $660 for the labour.
I thought I might do a bit of research first.
Any advice welcomed.
Thanks,
Sean
