      New Prado model?

      Hi all,

What are the lates rumours on the new Prado model which should become available in 2009 or 2010?

I have read a previous post on this in early 2008 but cannot locate it now so not sure if there are any updates in that post.

Not sure how reliable this source is but the photo is interesting

        Re: 2009 Prado

I can believe that it is the new Prado from all I've read and heard. It fits with the corporate facelift going on across the range. I don't really like the look of the front of the new LC200 but I quite like the back.

Frankly the rims on this mockup concern me (even if styling concepts tend to eggagerate the wheel size for effect) - it seems that the manufacturers try and be all things to all people and by adding bling in the form of 'prestigous 18 and 19" alloys' they reduce their usefulness to their most loyal buyers.

From what I've heard there is an assumption that the spare will be mounted under the back thus necessitating the need for a smaller fuel tank. Let's hope it's not a space saver eh ?

          Re: 2009 Prado

The Prado photo from Indian website seems like a photoshop result or perhaps it is actually the new RAV4. The reason why I say this is that the car looks rather small compared to the big driver in the photo. The current Prado looks much bigger. So either the Photoshop didn't work too well to detail the real size of the driver or it is a RAV4.

There is a post a couple back that says the Rav has a different front end (round foglights) so this is a different vehicle..

              Re: 2009 Prado

Came across this in another site. Unsure of its credibility but I'll post it for your information anyway...

"Just thought Id mention some info for you guys here, spoke to one of the blokes I know here in Australia who is involved in a 200,000km durability test thats he's about to partake on of the next shape Prado coming out end of 2009.

He didnt go into engine or mechanical specifics at all except to say that the drivetrain power is awesome, and it would compare to the jump from the 1KZ diesel engine to the 1KD , but this time ontop of what the 1KD D4D already has.....which would be unbeleivable

My guess is a V6 D4D diesel engine.....which would mean a a performance upgrade for the 200 series diesel would have to be a must."

                Re: Prado refresh in September???

Whilst in my local Toyota dealership recently checking out the Prado, I noticed the updated Hilux next to me. On inspection I noticed, amongst other little updates, the Hilux had radio controls on the steering wheel similar to the Prado, plus a few extra buttons on the other side of the wheel where the Prado has blanks. Now this is an observation of no great brain power I admit, but it would seem feasible the Prado may get one more update, albeit very minor, before the new model hits our shores in '09/'10.

                    Re: 2009 Prado

Bit hard to read the fine print  but the caption is "this vehicle has all the latest devices from the Landruiser 200 series". Whatever that means. Maybe an aftermarket fitment of the Kinetic suspension?

Wow, even though it's an artist impression sketch, it does look good to me.

If it retains the 180 litre fuel capacity, I will definitely consider it. Whoohoo! Thankyou in advance, Mr Toyota!

Hey mjrandom, if you're Samford is the NW of Brisbane I was at the Village Hotel on Sunday for lunch and a couple of quiet ones.

                        Top spot that.

Only one I can think of! Pub is good but then so is the restaurant in the middle of Mt Glorious that has a deck that looks out over the valley. Food is superb and worth a stop anytime, try the Guinness pie. Watch out for motorbikes on your side of the road though.

If you had journeyed out here the Sunday before you would have been stuck in the village for a day or so with no power. We ended up cut off because of trees falling during the storm. All roads out impassable. SES and Energex did a damn fine job getting the roads open and power back on during Monday. Sympathies with everyone in Ferny Hills, Ferny Grove and the Gap who copped it big time.

                            Hi All

I am in the process of wanting to buy a new prado but have been waiting for information on the new generation to come out or at least the 2009 model

Every Toyota dealer i speak to just wants to sell me what they have in stock at the moment, they keep everything secret and say that there is no new prado coming out

Does anyone know when this will be?

Why don't Toyota keep there customers updated with information, they have updated every other model, just not the prado

                            Any information would be unreal

                            Cheers
                            Brent

Just go with the current one... its excellent. If you keep waiting for a next model, you will never get one. Plus this model is now well and truly tested.
