Just learnt two new things about the Prado today.
1. After reading the latest 4X4 Australia magazine (what a great writeup the Prado gets), I learnt that you can engage low range without the centre diff lock engaged. I just presumed it would automatically engage the centre diff lock when low range was selected (as my old Pajero did). This is great for when retrieving a boat from a steep ramp or manoeuvring a trailer up a steep driveway without having to worry about transmission wind up.
2. You can turn both TRC (Traction Control) and VCS (Vehicle Stability Control) off. I only thought you could turn the TRC off. If you press the button (left hand side of steering wheel) once quickly, it turns off TRC, but, if you press and hold it for 3 seconds, it turns TRC and VSC off. Perfect for sand driving!
Most of you probably already know these things but I thought maybe someone didn't. It is a very well thought out 4wd system on the Prados!
Cheers, Sam.
