  • Buying a GXL KDJ150R

    Hi All

Been studying this site for a while but first post to this site and hope you can help me.

I've been looking to upgrade my 1999GXL 3400V6 to a newer GXL KDJ150R. Have had the present one, since new. Was looking at a near new or new one. One thing I hate more that selling a car is buying one!

My question to you experienced & recent buyers is,
    1. Am I better to wait for the 2011 model or look at the 2010 runout sales?
    2. The other thing that confuses me is that the dealers are advertising $5K either side of the rrp (without extras) on a 2010 model, what's the go?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Ivan

Ps - I should have mentioned I'm in Brissie.

        Thanks guys,
The $59K ad was for a petrol. Lippa what price do I start negotiations knowing I've got a trade-in too? RRP is not a real price I've come to conclusion. Sorry if I sound a bit naive.

do your research on your trade dealers are going to give you wholesale price 3-5k under what it would retail for.
i priced a 150 d4d auto when they were first released reg on road was 62k through scifleet. i havent kept up to date with market trends since. RRP is for wood ducks! no one pays it! (unless you nod ya head a lot!!!!)
          both 120's i bought new were run outs i paid 48k for an '05 120 auto petrol in '06 and 52k for a '08 d2d auto in '09
if you decide to wait and try your luck on a run out and miss out add at least 2-3k for next years numbers.

          good luck!

Their was deisel advertised somewhere for 59k. Might have been a demo.
Also since I have been buying toyota 4WD's I have always sold them privately, for a bit of mucking around and they sell themselves and u make more money for mods on the next one.

Thanks Rob! I can get $3K more if I sell it privately, enough for a bullbar and tow bar.

I bought a GX auto diesel for $56200 on the road, did not want the 3 row of extra of seats from Sunshine Toyota 3 months ago. No hassells realy easy to negotiate with just ask the question.

                      Good luck

Still searching but I'm of the opinion that the rrp for a KDJ150R (Auto) is $65K but the real negotiation price starts around $60K. Another thing is that anything advertised around $60K Drive Away is sold when I enquire ... 'Hotcakes' or 'Enticer' ... I'm not sure yet!

                            Thanks for the replies guys.

                            Cheers, 8)

                              Hi

Hint from a car dealer friend fo mine, the best price you will get is in the last week of January on a previous year model, this is the slowest sales period of the year.
