    guys

my 150' s defrosting button isn't working. condensation does not get cleared.

is it because of the window tint i use?

    any ideas?

    Re: a/c defrosting

I have had many cars tinted and the tint does not affect the demisting strips, unless the window tinter cut them accidentally.

You may have a problem with your switch wiring

Check that when they have tinted the windows they haven't disconnected the contacts for the rear demister. Don't know exactly what they look like and it raining too hard to go outside and check ours which is in the driveway. I have had this happen on a previous car.

No the front window obviously does not have defrosting strips..
So it is not possible that the tinting has affected the front window..
Do you get hot air coming out of the vents at the bottom of the window when the ac is turned on and turned to hot ?..

yes. there is air coming out of the vents at the bottom of the window. but im not sure how hot it is.

honestly, i thought i just need to press the dedicated button for getting air from the bottom of the window. i didnt know that i have to turn the a/c to hot.

i have an automatic climate control. i will try next time to set it to a very high temprature.

              thanks

                  Re: a/c defrosting

I thought that you were talking about rear or side windows. I have my front windscreen tinted to keep the UV and heat out but there are no demister strips on the front windscreen.

Demisting is done either by warm/hot air which heats up the glass so that the damp air inside the cabin isn't rapidly cooled and thus forced to give up it's moisture OR you use air conditioning to dehumidify the cabin air, that is, extract the moisture out of the air so that when it hits cold glass it isn't heavy with moisture and forced to give it up.

Personally I prefer to use air conditioning to keep my glass clear. I have Three-Zone air conditioning but that makes no difference. It's just for women who are always feeling cold and don't like the cooler temperature that men set. They have no metabolism. LOL Air conditioning works no matter how many zones you have.

I just read Page 311of the Owner's Manual and then went outside and had a play with my 150's switches. The Windshield Defogger Button (Page 306) just controls baffles and directs air to the windscreen. By default it turns the air conditioner on at the same time. Heat isn't important if you have air conditioning dehumidifying the air. Play around with the Air Outlet Selector Button and watch what happens. Things start going to off mode. If you refer to Page 314 they tell you that if you chill your windscreen too much then the outside air will give up moisture and you will get misting on the OUTSIDE.

I wouldn't go turning your 150 into a sauna just to demist your glass, instead I'd be setting a nice comfortable temperature with air conditioning and let the system extract the moisture out of the air.

Be warned, the next thing will be your wife saying that her skin is drying out because of the air conditioning. Just kidding.
