  • Transferring Phonebook from phone

Has anyone had any luck transferring phonebook entries from your phone via Bluetooth to the GXL Audio System?

I have tried both a Blackberry 9700 and 9800 and both fail after transferring one (1) contact to the radio.

I would be interested If anyone has it working on any phone as I can borrow a phone for this task quite easily.

    Legweak.

I managed to transfer a couple of contacts from a HTC desire. I remember that the phone disconnected during the transfer and I had to reconnect to complete the transfer.

Same problem here with the GXL and 9800 Torch. I just ended up entering my frequent ones manually. Pretty frustrating. Tried a few times for hours to no avail.

That's what I did too, the a couple dats later i pulled the battery leads off to fit the tow bar harness and it all reset! Stuff that I'll just have to dial out using the phone itself....

I have had no problems transferring from my phonebook on my Nokia E71 to my VX Prado. I have transferred about 10 contacts and the voice commands work well too.

              Re: Transferring Phonebook from phone

Just to add to my previous post, the bluetooth connection to the phone does drop off once the word "transfer" appears on the radio screen but the connection re-establishes when transferring the phonebook info from the phone. Also my wife's Nokia 6120 works fine as well.

                  Hi

                  My first post...Yay!

I have transferred over 100 contacts from both an iPhone 3GS and just recently my new iPhone 4 to my Kakadu with no problems at all. It took less than 2 minutes....

don't have my Prado as yet, so can't try, but think this may be related to your Blackberry.
If this ha been activated with a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) (to get your company's email) changes are that a policy has been activated which prevents transfer of contacts via Bluetooth. I had the same happen with my BB and another bluetooth carkit. Can't remember the exact location of this (locked) setting, but it is somewhere under Bluetooth connections

                        Re: Transferring Phonebook from phone

I did this on my front lawn with my car engine running....mostly for the air conditioning as it was a hot day but not sure if you would have to or not.

In the Kakadu...once on the phone screen I pushed connect phone and it came up with another screen that gave me a 4 digit passcode to put into my phone

On the phone....go to settings, then general, then bluetooth. The phone should pick up "car multimedia" and a screen will come up with a spot for the passcode, enter the passcode and then touch pair (same screen. top right hand corner) this should then pair the phone with the car.

Back to the Kakadu...the screen confirms it is connected and then push contacts, transfer contacts and it transferred all my contacts in les than 30 seconds, automatically, the final screen will be the list of contacts you have just transferred.

I hope I've written it so you are able to understand the steps.

                        Cheers

Didn't work with my Nokia 3120 Classic. As soon as I selected Transfer it disconnected the 'phone.

                              Hmmmm

I'm going to try it with my hubby's HTC Desire on the weekend and see what happens...seems odd that it works with some and not others.
