G'day all!
just some ffod for thought for people wondering where to mount an ARB on board twin motor air compressor. Not wanting to mount on a bracket under the bonnet because of limited space and also to keep comp cool and clean, I have mounted mine under the drivers seat where it just fits in nicely and has air con vents blowing over it as an added bonus.
A couple of small mods to comp is all thats needed. Firstly lenghthen the two power cables and one negative cable ( using same or larger diameter cable keeping fuse nearest to battery) by joining with copper cable links ( found right size links at battery world) and crimp with hydraulic crimper from local auto sparkie and heat shrink, or alternatively join by soldering and heat shrink ( harder to heat cable right thru to allow solder to run thru it, easier to crimp) and route thru fire wall grommet and under drivers door sill and under seat
Secondly take out hose connector from top of comp and replace with a 3/4' nipple and elbow air fittings and screw the hose connector back in to the elbow. the comp can now fit under the seat with the hose easy to connect and disconnect ( hose kept under 2nd row seat )
The power pick up for the switch can be taken from any power you prefer but I just ran a new positive with 5amp fuse to battery ( no splicing into vehicle's wiring) and left switch under seat
fairly easy to do and wiring diagram with comp is staright forward
Cheers Sunchaser
