  • 30mm (1 inch) Lift

By years end, I may well be in a position to lift the Prado. I'm not sure I want to go the full 2 inch lift - extra wear (to CV boots etc), total height issues, CoG problems...but would be happy to be convinced otherwise.

As an FYI - ARB Bull Bar only with lights at the moment. Fridge and Second Battery in Rear, also probably approximately 100kg of extra load in the rear when camping/touring etc. Current Front height - 755-765mm depending on the day. Current Rear height (unloaded) ~780

Does anyone have a 30mm lift on their 150?

    Is it what you thought?
Should you have chosen 50mm instead?
What combination of shocks/springs did you go with?
How much did it set you back?
Do you have any photos, especially comparing with the stock setup?

The factory front height is normally 740mm. Yours seems to be a bit higher. Have you still got stock suspension and 17" rims?

Last I checked, everything except the tyres (which have no bearing on this equation) is stock, yeah.
I'll have to confirm my numbers. I'm relatively certain that's what I measured it at last time.

Spilsy the CV angles are fine with a 50mm lift. Your set up is pretty similar to mine, I only have a T3 bar but do have the ARB CKMTA12 under the bonnet where most people are fitting a second battery. I also have a fridge and battery in the back. I went for TJM gold and have roughly 40mm more height than you front and rear. Agree with amts though your heights are high for stock. Anyway the Prado drives more stably with the lift than without due to the better damping control and the CV angles are just the reverse of stock. Total height is no big deal but parking where the height limit is below 2.05m would be noisy

Just went and checked, and as it stands today, The front height, measured from the base of the rim, thru the centre cap and up to the wheel arch is 748mm.

I was contemplating why you would incur the cost of lifting just 1 inch, then I remembered the wife said to me once that 1 inch can make a significant difference.

Subject only to clearance issues in garages, I would do the standard 50mm which will cost the same and wont present any real wear issues.

Looking through the 150 Suspension Measurement thread, the factory front height is around the 750mm mark.
The ARB bullbar doesn't seem to have moved the height much.

Which springs did you go for? The standard or the Heavy Duty?

Preload on the springs is by spacer, mine needed a bit more after fitting originally as have others so make sure you wont be fobbed off by your installer, make sure they agree to add or remove spacers depending on result.

Overall I am very happy with how it drives and the ride. Much better than the OME I have fitted at the end to the 120.
