Hi there. I am a recent Prado convert (had a Pajero with a 25mm lift for 16 years and have just upgraded into a 2014 GXL 150 series). I am finding it bottoms out on most tracks in the Vic High Country other than the soft roader main tracks, so much so that I have installed aftermarket underbody protection. I am now looking at a 50mm lift but want to retain the ride quality as the vehicle is relatively new and will spend most of its time on road around town.
I have been recommended Cal-Offroad lift kit as offering a 50mm adjustable lift with actually improved suspension "feel" (not the harshness that can come with uprated springs) - they say because they have a wider diameter shock absorber - but wanted to know if any of the members had experience with the Cal Offroad kit and what they thought?
Also can anyone suggest any expert fitment centers for lift kits in Melbourne? I did speak to the chap who installed my bull bar and winch but decided not to go with them after his techie described their lift installation process as essentially ensuring the lift is 50mm above CURRENT ride height. As I have a steel bull bar, warn winch, second battery and old style heavy IPF lights on the front there is no doubt the ride height there is already lower than standard so I would be looking for a lift to 50mm above OEM specs, not my current ride height! Ideally I'd be looking for an installer who understands and can do that while keeping it legal.
Many thanks appreciate it
