Hi All,

In my quest to find a suitable set of wheels and tyres I came across the following website:

It gives you all of the important measurements between exisiting and new tyre/wheels combo. What a cool idea!

Thats a good site thanks, seeing it over laid is great. i have been using this site http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp but still can't decide if 17*8 20p or 17*9 12p will fit with kdss model prado's. The calculator says they will but it also says glx rims will and bob the monkey proved they don't ,so he fitted fj cruiser rims. i know 1 forum member has fitted 17'' hilux rims and that worked also. I also want to fit 17'' rims to my vx, i like the look of lenso rt7 rims and also black rhino side winder rims but cant trial fit any befor ordering them. let us know how your quest for wheels goes. cheers.

The compatibility of rims to KDSS cannot be definitively determined via rim dimensions and offsets. It can only be dependent on the geometry of the inside of the wheel which will mean trial fitting them. But as a guide, it would be better to stay as close to 7.5" width and go for less offset than 25p. Or for every 1/2" wider in rims, you need to reduce the offset by 7mm from FJ rims offset of 15p. FJ rims are 17"x7.5" 15p and seeing as that rims clears, then it is a good starting point.

I'm looking at the Pro Comp Series 7105 which are only a 1/2" inch wider but have a 0 offset. That should be plenty to clear any internal suspension components (mainly the UCA), but I'm going to need to trial fit to make sure they clear the brake caliper. One other issue is they may stick out further than the wheel arch which could be a problem. I really don't want to fix on those cheap rubber flares.

Just note that the calculation for Suspension Clearance in the rimsntires website only takes into account the offsets. When fitting a rim onto KDSS Prados, you need to take into account offset; rim diameter and rim width as a start.
