  • Dueler D693's

    Just a quick tyre question.
I have 2 week old GXL 150. Wasn't going to change tyres for some time.
    I have a chance to buy 5 Bridgy D693 275/65/17 for $300
4 tyres under 5000km, spare is new.

so I suppose the question is: Is the D693 better than the AT20?

    Your thoughts

D693 or D673? One is AT, the other is MT.

Better in my opinion, fit them to vehicles at work, they are on the h/t end of the a/t scale, I would actually class them as a h/t tyre. They have a better (stiffer) sidewall and will improve handling at the same pressures. I am a Bridgestone fan though and I'm sure others will disagree, however they don't call the grandcraps for nothing

Thanx AussieAndy, I certainly didn't want to start another tyre discussion but just the comparison of those 2.

Hey Maddi is it the D693 or the D693 II? They have quite different tread patterns.

            D693 - http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au/tyres/...dueler-at-d693

            D693 II - http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au/tyres/...ler-at-d693-ii

To my eye the D693 II is the more HT type tread of the two and closer to the AT20. Do you know where the tyres you are looking at are made? I have the D697s in the LT spec and they are now made in Indonesia. The D694s I had on the 95 series came out of Japan and I think were better quality but to be fair I never gave those ones a real workout. As for the AT20 well I got 83,000kms out of a set so they aren't all bad for a road tyre.

Fido666, Not sure yet. They are off a Patrol. I think they come standard on them. I will be checking them out Friday arvo.
Also for $300 if I don't like em I guess I could trade 10 tyres in on some D697s or Geolandars.

              Thanx for the info

I found the stock Dunlops on my 2012 GXL really crap, I changed them at about 40,000km and really wished I did it sooner. I had a new FG F6 in 2010 that had Dunlops from factory and was disappointed with them too.

I put Bridgestone AT 697's LT on and haven't looked back, they are quieter on the road than the original Dunlops (strange!) fuel usage went up a little but handling and grip is far better. Travelled 53,000km's on the 697's with plenty of tread to go. Will definitely be running these again on my next set!

If they are off a patrol (standard fit) they will be the plain old 693's, they are factory fit on the Isuzu dmax as well, great on road tyre with occasional light off road work like I said.

I have very recently fitted a set of the 697 LTs in the original size 265/65/17, though I wish they had been available in 265/70/17 (not avail in LT) - yet to take them off the bitumen, but I can concur with the previous posters. Awesome tire, very smooth and quiet, love the wet. Can't wait to try them in the dirt/sand/rocks.
A very good tire for a reasonable price.

OK D693's are on. Feels so much firmer (better). Cornering feels more secure, not so much roll. Early days I know but what an instant change.
