Spare wheel cover

G'day Guys,

Just about to throw some new rubber under the rig. Looking at the Cooper AT/3 265 70R17 Dia 803mm which are 27mm bigger Dia then the stocko grandtek's, Has anyone tried to squeeze them under the spare tyre hard cover? I've had a look and it's gotta go close...

Not sure really, most of us have ditched the Rav 4 looked and taken them off, have a search though, the question has been asked a billion times!

JPH I had looked through and couldn't see to much in regards to who had tried what in regards to the hard cover, however I am still finding my way around here... I guess my main concern was if I ditch the "Rav 4 look" what do I do in regards to the reverse camera mount etc... I've since worked out that a FJ cruiser factory wheel cover uses the same mount and same camera so I can go ahead with the bigger tyres and with the FJ cover the big girl will still have a tidy rear end...

The reverse camera mounts to the wheel mount, the cover just has a hole in it for the camera to peek through. Rip the cover off, then you have to take the spare off to remove the black plastic cover backing plate off the door. Just remember to put the screws back in the door to keep the dust out.

Spare tyre pressure of 200kPa should work

You should be OK to fit under standard plastic cover 265/70R17 as long as tyre is not over inflated. 200kPa (29 PSI) should work. Camera is on the wheel mount so no issue if no cover on. You can also change to a different cover such as cover from FJ Cruiser. FJ Cruiser cover is fast and easy to take off and put back on which is a big plus for me.
