OK, I'm confused. I am planning to swap a 265/60/r18 for a 265/70/17 but have been told by the tyre place that because it's more than a 3% change to the outer diameter I can't do it. I have a 2 inch lift as well. I can't find anything in the VSB documents that talks about percentages, only mm.
The tyre size calculator at http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-...0R17/265-65R17 gives me a 775.20mm diameter for my current tyres (265/60/18) and a 802.80mm OD for the tyres I want to swap to (265/70/17), that's a 27.6mm or 3.56% difference.
The tyre shop says if I go for a 265/65/17 it will be OK, that's a 1.1mm OD change or 0.14%.
Can anyone in Vic that has gone through the exercise clarify? Yes, I am changing rims too.
