  • Aftermarket wheel/tyre options

    Hi all,

New to the forum and have recently ordered a 150 2.8 gxl. While waiting for delivery I have been looking at aftermarket wheels/tyres. Basically I have pretty much narrowed it down to a Dick Cepek Torque/BFG KO2 combo but am still unsure on correct sizing.

Ideally I would like the 16x8 wheels with 285/75 tyres as it works out cheaper and I like the larger profile of the tyres but am unsure of the clearance between the wheel and front brakes and if the overall dimensions of the tyre will fit with out bumping/rubbing.

Option two is 17x8.5 wheels with 285x70 tyres. Once again unsure how the tyres go in regards to clearance.

Both of these packages give around the same overall diameter of 32.8/32.7" and the car will have a 2" lift. Open to suggestions regarding tyre size to achieve the same overall diameter.

Any advice would be appreciated as unfortunately I live in an area that does not have many options and the customer service can be pretty average at times.

    Cheers

If you search back through some of the older posts in this topic, you'll find the discussion on 16 inch rims. http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...t-a-150-series

To see the older threads, you need to change the option at the bottom of the screen.

The simple answer is no. But there is plenty of advice on 17inch options in this topic.

Why would you want to put 16s on and not keep the 17s on it

Probably price and availability, but the 285/70r17 are becoming very common now and there are a manufactures that make good rims in an offset to suit the Prado
Fairly sure Dynamic wheels have something suitable

              Food for thought
that size along with the 285/75r16 are both above the legal 50mm OD increase
Unless your in NSW you go by the7% increase and they just sneak in at 6.9%
