  • Photos of the 95 with a Roof rack please

    Hello Guys abd Girls

Does anyone have any photos of a 95 (90 Series LWB) with a Roof Rack fitted please.

All I have seen is the ARB one (very nice imo, just the 50 Kg that is a little off putting)) but I would like to see others fitted.

If you are still after shots this is my 90 series with Rhino rack bars and a Jarram Overlander rack. The rack is 1250 x 1450.

Not too big and not too heavy. Now fitted to our 120 series via ARB adapters.

Heres mine from a recent trip to Lithgow....Fill length made to suit 60 series cruiser, slightly modified now to suit a 90 series....

It sits on three roof bars & is attached by 9 hose clamps.

I got it made at an aluminium truck bullbar fabrication place back in 1992. Still going strong.

                Cheers

Our (Grant and me) Prado's in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve South Africa. They are both VX TD's.

The roof rack on the left is a Frontrunner - Wind Cheetah and on the right Outback aluminium - flat top no basket.

                          Wazza,

My custom ally rack takes about 10 mins to get on and off and I am sure others (gutter mount units)would be much the same. Just need 2 tall people and 1 spanner. Corrosion wise I think the trick is to make sure the mounts are well insulated to prevent rubbing through the paint. I use a couple of layers of that reinforced gaffa (100mph) tape. I have seen others use plastic "C" channel type stuff also.

I also have a trailer but roof racks can be so much more handy even day to day.Spot something for sale at a garage sale for instance, wack it up on the rack and off you go. Its always up there. Just make sure you keep a couple of straps/rope in the back.

Lower is better, but I have a roof top tent which is 2.3m high from level ground,I still go into thick bush no worries, you just have to be a bit more carefull with over hanging limbs.I would'nt be to worried about a basket, depending on what you'v got in it. any way heres a pic of it. Oh yeh! dont go into under ground car parks.
