  • Diff Ratio modifications for bigger tyres INFO

    hey there guys,

while looking at diff ratios to help run the bigger tyres i have bolted on i found this chart that shows what diff ratios work well with what size tyres and the approx RPM doing 65 MPH (105 km/h) just thought some of you guys might also be interested in it

    http://www.4wheelparts.com/aux_incl/gear_ratio.html

just remember it is based on 4th gear, not 5th

hope ya all found it usefull

    Regards Ross

And for those looking for replacement crown/pinion gears, you'll need to source the front bits from the USA (7.5" reverse cut).

are the crown and pinion in the SR5 hilux the same reverse cut 7.5"? the size is the same, just if it is reverse cut or not..

Nah, not the same, the Hilux has standard rotation crown/pinion gears in it's 7.5" diff. You can't interchange these two gears or diff casings. The only thing which may be the same, is the diff centre. This is evident by the fact that the ARB air locker part number is the same for both diffs.

        7.5" reverse cut gears: http://www.justdifferentials.com/ind...Path=22_37_128
7.5" standard (Hilux): http://www.justdifferentials.com/ind...Path=22_37_123 (these are easily found in Aus)

We can "thank" the designers for the rare reverse cut diff - they put the front driveshaft on the passenger side, instead of the driver side.
