Hi guys and gals, new here and fairly new to Prado's (formally a Lux owner)
Ive just bought a '98 TX 3lt D. Went awesome for a week and then yesterday I had it in 4L around the yard with the boat on the back. Since then it seems to be binding or partially engaged somewhere.
The shift works fine from H to HL to L and back again and the dash 4x4 light comes on and off as it should. What im getting is a binding and then a CLUNK from the drivetrain somewhere - buggered if I can figure out where. It does it going forward (roll say 4m forward then CLUNK) and then back same thing. Itll do it in all gears, up hill, down hill, sideways (and I almost wanna test upside down) Its there in D, N, and R, and even N on the 4wd selector.
I removed the front shaft to see if anything was different.. nope. The clunk seems worse in N rolling backwards.. its almost like a CV binding sound if that makes any sense?
Really scratching my noggin on this one and would appreciate any answers!
