just under the car today checking up on things and noticed there seems to be a lot of free play between the inner joint(tripod joint housing) and the diff housing, with out measuring it seems to be about 3-5mm. wandering if this is normal or excessive? doesn't seem to be much written about this in the manual? Thanks

In the CV joint or in the diff?
Backlash of this amount in the diff can be considered normal.
