  • Manual Lock up switch for auto trans

Wondering if anyone here has installed a manual lock up switch to their automatic transmission?

Really sick of how fast it pulls down hills when in LL and there's no transfer case gears available for the prado.

If anyone knows anything about them would be much appreciated

    Hi Rob,
Do you really feel it runs away in 1st-Low? I've found it pretty good going down the steep stuff.

I'm guessing that if there is a simple switch mod, it would be documented for the 80 series. The late model 4 spd autos were the same as the 90 series (A343F).

I hope that helps a little

    Cheers,

Cheers, wasn't aware the trans was the same in the 80's, will have to check that out.

As for running away, might just be the Vic High Coutry tracks, but yes it really does. Have had the brake almost all the way to the floor on a few occasions. Would prefer to never have to touch brakes going downhill

A company called Wholesale Automatics does a Lock up kit, basically a relay, switch and some wires, oh yeah and instructions too lol

However I think you need to modify the valve body to allow lock up in first.
