  • Central locking issue

    Hi, I have a 2001 KZJ95.
When I lock the vehicle using the remote the indicators flash 16 times. Does anyone know what that means? It should only be twice.
Also when starting the engine the doors all lock. This has never happened before.
    Thanks in advance.

Yeah. Thanks for that, but the solution isn't that simple. I have looked for loose wires, made sure all doors are closed properly,

Has someone played with your remote, as it sounds like the anti car jack mode has been activated, it is set by pressing the buttons on the remote in a certain combination.

Any chance you might know where to find the sequence?
I have looked at my manuals and I could only find how to pair a remote with the system.

            Hi
Did you find a solution to this?

I had both my batteries disconnected for most of the day whilst I sorted out some custom wiring. Now its all connected up again, I get the 16 flashes.
            What does this mean?

Still haven't found a solution yet. The other day the central locking went berserk and just kept cycling, so I disconnected the battery, problem fixed, but after reconnecting the battery the central locking won't work unless the car is running.
My kind Toyota mechanic has set me up with an auto mechanic and is allowing him to utilise their manuals to try and find where the problem is. Hopefully all will be revealed next week.
I'll post the solution once we know what it is.
                Cheers

as for the berserker point. This is not an uncomon problem in many aftermarket alarms. The alarm "sees" the driver as being open, usually a fault a in the door pin or the alarm wiring to it. But it also thinks it's locked. But its protocol won't allow it to be locked and have drivers door open as this will allow a situation where the key can become locked inside the car....it was basically arguing withitself...
"I'm locked so lock the bloody doors!"
"Yes, but the door is open so unlock!"
"No, it's closed, trust me! So lock!"

So as this argument continues all you can really do is stand there and watch it.... or disconnect the battery.

The second problem does sometimes arise from a situation above. It tries to return to its previous state but it doesn't know. But it does see an ignition input so it knows that the keys are inside the car and the door is closed....operate normally.

If I can be perfectly honest with you. Your auto elec won't be able to solve it and he can throw the toyota service manuals. It won't help. The central lock is working perectly, the issue is lying in the keyless entry module. (yep, two seperate systems.) My suggestion would be to get your a new aftermarket entry system. JBHiFi, Autobarn sell units that work fantastically.

If you can wire a set of spotlights, you can wire an alarm system with a little help, I'm more then happy to provide a wiring diagram, wire location and wire colour for all required wires if requested. Failing that, I can also do the install myself if your near melbourne.

                      Ok, problem solved.
Thanks RanJ, it was the key less entry module. Toyota genuine "accessory" (Remote Central Locking Module- part #PZQ71-60073) this is an optional extra. That being the case it doesn't show up in any of the workshop manuals.

It's just a little plug in unit, upon removal have found the terminal on the unit to have moisture/water damage, the pins are corroded.
Central locking working fine as RanJ mentioned
