I allready have a duel battery set up with a third battery in the camper trailor paralleled through an anderson plug with the second battery in the car.
I curently have the winch wired to the second battery and it also runs the fridge and the 2-ways.

Im after some advise on what type of batteries to purchase.
The starter battery is ok, but the other two are on there way out, all three are currently standerd batteries and im looking at replacing the two dead ones with deep cycles.

Any advise on brands and ratings?
and wich battery the winch should be on?

I'm certainly no expert when it comes to auto electricity but my understanding is that the winch should be connected to a starting type battery with a high cca (ie 650 or more). If using a winch off a deep cycle battery then you will kill it quick smart. Although some of the more exxy Optimas and Oddysey types can do both deep cycle and large cca at the same time, but you will certainly pay for the privilege.

    Cheers

as i said above currently they are all standard starting type batterys,
but i am thinking of moving the good battery to the trailer as it only usualy runs a small light and getting new batteries for the car, maybe some of those pricey one mentioned.

has anyone had experiance with the optimas or oddyseys?

I use Excide Extreme Batteries, they are $109 and got 2 year warranty,
they are hybryd between cranking and deep cycle battery.

Exide Extreme here too (N70ex i think). $109 is a pretty good price! I got mine from Kmart at $123 and it was 15% off.

Yota. Goldy is right in regards to running your winch off your starter battery. In my toy I run a Optima Yellow Top as my starter battery and a Trojan Deep Cycle for my appliances. The Optima altough expensive gives me a high CCA for use with winching operations with the added bonus of 75amp hr rating for running applicances. The trojan was the smallest DC battery (not a lot of room to fit 2 batteries in the V6) that I could find with the highest amp hrs (115). Hope this helps

                  thanks for the replys
still prefer to run the winch off the aux battery so there is always enough grunt left to start the car, thats why i was looking at an optima or similer.
ended up geting a marine battery with 600CCA & 75Ah 12 mth warrenty, the bloke at battery world was saying it should last at least half has long and is less than half the price of an optima.
