i am hoping someone could help me shed some light on my problem.
i went away for the weekend and about 15km from where i was going the engine seemed stumble and loose power, the check engine light came on. so i pulled over and pulled the code and it came out as error code 14, according to the haynes manual its the timing control valve.
after letting it sit i started it up again and the problem had gone away. i kept driving and the problem returned. i managed to limp it to my final location.
the engine light comes on and off and has no power. it wont rev above 2400rpm and when it blows lots of smoke when you put your foot down
if i reset the ecu, the problem goes away for 10-15 minutes and presumably this is when the ecu relearns that there is a problem
so i pulled the timing control valve out and cleaned it (it had a little bit of crap on the filter)
cleaned the filter in screw
changed the fuel filter
and checked the air filter
drained the fuel tank and put new fuel and a bottle of injector cleaner in it
can anyone may any suggestions of the next path to address
is there anything else on the timing control circuit. the haynes manual leaves alot to be desired
any help would be greatly appreciated
