I note that some retailers of harnesses use this for negative switching. I guess that their harnesses are made for positive switching. I suppose it works but some harnesses are wired for negative switching which begs the question of why go this route as it is more expensive. I can understand that the retailers don't need to think about the harness design itself but is it so difficult to market 2 different harnesses?
One more thing is that is it difficult to change/adapt a positive loom to a negative switch one? I guess it depends on design but looking at Ironman's diagrams for example, the only difference there is that for negative switching the ground from the relay goes to the switch and then the high beam. This change isn't difficult and seems simpler than using a resistor + diode or whatever and having to pay $ when all the additional cost is a couple of meters of wire. I'm kinda of tempted to buy a loom to examine as there's one I'm interested in as it's less than $100 using 6mm but his circuit completor is tons more expensive than say Piranha's even. While it's feasible to put your own together, when you have to pay retail you don't really save much on materials and you need crimpers and other tools. For those who have the tools already well that's your luck but not everyone is in your boat. Eg, I was looking adding a Deutsch connector and stopped when the crimper cost $40+. For me that's not on as I won't ever use it again. I am happy to have someone do a professional job when all it's gonna cost me is less than $50 for labour as it will be for this headlight loom.
