can Electric Windows be changed to work without ignition on

Hi Guys,
New here but done some searches and turned up nothing. Great forum btw.... very interesting and informative!!

Recently bought an 01 Prado and very impressed so far (except for the growl @ 2900RPM ? )

Never had electric windows before and it troubles me that I have to have the ignition on to operate the windows. Does anyone know if the windows can be changed to work directly from the battery?

The 2900rpm growl was a feature of my last motor. I recently cooked that one and put in another out of a 2002 hilux. No growl in the new engine. I always felt something in the motor at 2900 but nobody else could feel it and I always thought I was being pedantic. PITA that the harmonic was right on 110kmh.

Yep - vibration at 2900rpm was a "feature" of that 3.4litre engine.
It never went away. Very annoying, from the day I drove out of the showroom, until the day I sold it, 8 years later!
