Hi Fellas. After trolling through these pages and other forums, I have yet to find any info on boring out/stroking on 1KZ series engines in the search for more power. Is there a good reason to prevent this? Does the basic design not allow this? MickL may be able to help me out on this. Cheers, Derb.

Re: 1KZ-TE increased capacity
any thing is possible but there is alot of home work involved you need to get all the specs on different pistons , con rods and bearings as well as offset grinding crank shafts to increase the stroke - my opinion if your not clued up on the engineering side I would not atempt it as it will cost big $$$ to get some one to find the time to jigsaw a good combination to increase capacity

Re: 1KZ-TE increased capacity
I'm not sure how the KZ head would really cope with an increase in capacity. I may be wrong But I think I read somewhere that the KZ bores are a little too close for machining as the block becomes a bit thin between cylinders.

In regards to actually doing it I cant see an issue from an engineering point of view. However the cost of this sort of "one of" type development might be frightening.
Without seriously looking at a block and doing some reasearch I'd hate to give any technical advice at this stage.
What I do know is Toyota spec the block as "Throw away" after boring has reached over 1mm over the standard bore. This is also the biggest piston you'll get off the shelf (97mm or 1mm over)
What you really need is a bare block to look at and do some measuring.
