it is helpful if you provide details that appear in your posts of where you live, therefore you can ger suitable advice. Where did the dump pipe come from?

I had a 2.75 inch mandrel bend system with a 3 inch dump pipe fitted by Beaudesert Exhaust, just out of Brisbane last year. Their systems already have the flex joint.

Their systems are well regarded and it seems for obvious reason. My car has done some hard KMs since the exhaust was fitted.

A lot of places fit exhauts and larger dump pipes, these guys make everything themselves.

The dump pipe was supplied by Beaudesert Exhausts and the system fitted my Maroochy Exhausts on the Sunshine Coast. All reputable people who do good work. I'm not looking to apportion any blame, I'm just trying to be sure this doesn't happen again.

Ask me any questions on the system you like I'm happy to answer them. Just not so happy about this happening.

OK fellows I too have noted the improvements of the upgrade on the exhaust system. However, I had my 95 series larger dump pipe replaced this week due to the dump pipe cracking nearly all the way round. I'm waiting to see if the manufacturer comes to the party.

I had the exhaust shop fit another flex joint just below the new dump pipe I'm hoping that this will fix the problem in the future. However it may me a strength issue, the thinner wall on the fabricated pipe being too weak to endure the constant vibrations and heat. It is a 2 and a bit year old system now, I would have thought that it was a one time only modification. The dump pipe also only carries a 12mth warranty, or so I am led to believe. But guess what there was a 120 series Prado on the hoist when I arrived with the exact same problem and the pipe was from the same manufacturer. So its not a one off occurrence.

Also this dump pipe looks a lot like the Eng-Tek one. Exactly alike in fact. I am wondering if they are indeed the same item.

Anyhow foretold is fore warned.

I just noticed same thing in my down pipe (Beaudesert 3"), thanks to you. I remembered this topic and checked it while I was under the car. Itīs not leaking yet, but itīs cracked of two points. And itīs just 1 year old/23000 km.





I have one flexy joint (you can see it at my earlier pic), but itīs quite behind although itīs as near as it can be. I just think that Iīll weld some strut to it, which Iīll mount under some the transmission bell house bolt. It would make it much stronger against vibrations.

Problem fixed, it was quite easy, just weld a bracket after dump pipe (I have shortened the dump pipe 50 mm because of bodylift). I should have done this before 1st installation:

Hmm interesting point. I guess if the dump pipe is braced to the engine then there is much less flex in it. Hence no more cracks. I've made up a little bracket to do the same, it braces to one of the 12mm bolts on the gearbox, the one that is above the one you have used, because the piece of metal I used is about 5mm thick. I've just got to get a longer bolt and then weld the bracket to the pipe in situ. Shouldn't take more than 10min. All up I guess it will have taken maybe 1hr with all the messing about. You think the manufacturer would do this from standard to save all the warranty repairs.

No problems any more at my case. Iīm happy. Itīs quite rusted now, but Beaudesert sells HPC-coated version too.

Thanks for that. It's good to hear it has been all ok with just the addition of a simple bracket.
Kinda makes you wonder why they don't incorporate this into the new one's after receiving feedback from everyone over the years.
