    i have a 95 series 1kz-te 3.0 auto. in the never ending quest for an extra 3 metres per litre and half a horse power i've been thinking about the EGR. i've read articles on the web which seem divided on the subject; some claim noticable torque increases and economy. others that an increase in combustion temperatures can cause bad things (expensive) to happen.

    good or bad, there is little mention of landcruisers.

    so the questions are;

    1, should i do it?
    2, how do i do it?
    3, if not why not?

        Yes. I think I get an extra 3 metres per litre. :lol: Not really, I think I save couple desiliters per 100 km.

        I´ve heard problems what is caused by sooty EGR, I think there is less problems in future when my EGR is blocked.

          Hello Nordic,

          My aussie delivered KZJ95 does not have EGR fitted ex-factory. I am sure the Hilux with the 1kz-te engine has EGR fitted. It is not fitted with an intercooler?? These engines both meet ADR30/00 in Australia. The Hilux engine has a cable throttle whereas the Prado is fully electronic.

            thanks for replying Dieselman. i'm afraid i don't have the good fortune to live in Australia, i'm in Scotland. the U.K. version does have the EGR as KZJ90 was knd enough to photo for me and a throttle cable . we also have to do without an intercooler :cry:

              Indeed.....does the ambient air temperature actually get warm there? >25 deg cel. :shock: :lol:

                Hi!

                Is it possible to remove the egr on the 1KD-FTV (d-4d) engine without problems?

                Has anyone removed the intake and cleaned it? Was clogged with soot/oil?
