I seem to be developing clicky disease, every few times I go to start it all I hear is a click and she won't turn over, have already removed and cleaned the contacts on the inhibitor switch, is there any common problems for these I need to know?

Sounds like the alternator (I think) is packing it in. This happened in my 90 and after the whacks with a hammer stopped fixing it they replaced with a reconditioned one.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

It's probably the starter solenoid.
If you remove the starter motor (hard job), there's a test you can do to determine if it's the motor or solenoid. It's described in the Haynes workshop manual.
Cleaning or replacing the solenoid components can resolve the issue for a while, until you punish it with more deep crossings and mud.
