I have just had a play on toyodiy with the VIN for both my car and for the wrecked hilux. The part numbers are the same for the camshafts on both vehicles??? Do they get ground differently prior to fitment?

Are you sure, because I have seen them being measured, and they have different profiles.
97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

Have you considered an LPG conversion? Then all the computer can control is the spark, the fuel delivery is controlled by two components with minimal settings. Then accept the high petrol consumption for the 5% of the time you're not on gas. Consider the fuel cost savings, with fewer emissions. Check your sums, it should provide a conservative 30 000km payback period.

My conversion uses the main petrol tank's fuel guage, original main/sub switch, and the gas filler even fits in the factory fuel flap. LPG prices have just spiked in Brisbane, but then petrol is set to No regrets!
