Putting a key in the ignition is usually the start of my downward spiral. Taking it out does have a temporary benefit.

1. Simple the more you push your right foot the more it uses. Try using less push.
2. Petrol version over diesel, things are a lot worse than number 1 , especially if you push it.
3. *Egr blank plate on diesel, more cold air through intercooler & less though 26mm dia exhaust hole. Cold burns better, more efficient.
4. Weight, tyres & lack of correct calculation from bigger tyres, wind resistance adding items, like bullbars, roof racks, lights, awnings etc.
Number 3 compensates a lot of the number 4's!
*savings calculated at cruise & light acceleration only.

Driving style plays a huge part. Gentle on the loud pedal when taking off and not using cruise control when in the hills. Actually, i find the cruise control set at 100 hunts for lower gears more than when its set for say 104.
Keep them serviced, clean air filter, clean MAF, correct tyre pressure, it all plays a part.
Just got back from up near Bright, 650k out of the main tank as the fuel light came on. For my old girl, history shows that's around 73l of fuel used with at least another 10-12L left in it. Add that to the near on 600 i get from the sub & i really cant complain. Afterall, its a 17 year old vehicle with close to 300K on in...98 GXL......

I can report similar good results from my supercherged 3.4. Recently did a hunting trip, lots of 4Wding and also open highway. Averaged 14.2L/100km. Pretty happy with that considering my highway overtaking blasts past 22 wheelers like they standing still

The supercharger is great in so many ways but surprisingly with it my consumption is consistent from 80 km/hr. to 110 km/hr. when loaded for a trip therefore is goodBaders-1996 Prado 90 Series 3.4L/TRD Supercharger/2.2" Pulley/Xede ECU/Aquamist Water Meth Injection/Pacemaker Extractors/2.5" Custom Exhaust/West Coast Suspensions HD 50mm lift/Detroit Tru Trac rear diff.

I have a supercharger too. Just not in a Prado. How do you get 14 L/100? Sounds exceptionally good to me....My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic
