  • Charcoal canister question

    Hi,

I have a 1999 V6 GXL. On the weekend I moved the charcoal canister to order for the removal of a 2nd battery setup. During the process the tube from the bottom of the canister seemed to have unconnected from somewhere in the engine bay. Now I have no idea where this tubing should connect. Anyone with a V6 have any clues ?

    Regards

    Hi Rob
Yep I found it a pain in the ass to play with all those pipes!
I think it might be connected to the side of the engine sort of under the manifold. Bit dark to see outside will try to get some pics tomorrow. The Gregories manual calls it the atmospheric port!

      Hi danrex,

Of course I cant find my workshop manual (murphys law), the pipe coming from the bottom of the canister is hard plastic and seems to be somewhat heat resistance. Let me know how you go.

      thanks heaps

I've just had a look in my Gregory's it doesn't show where the pipes go, from the picture the 'atmospheric port' on the bottom doesn't look like it's attached to anything, too dark atm to go see in my engine bay.

It goes into the chassis rail and just ends in there, there is a small hole with a clip that holds the pipe.

Have just had a quick look , and I think the one you mean actually joins up to a thin metal pipe (approx 6mm) . This brings back memories! (now renember doing the same thing!).
            The fun bit!
This little pipe now runs under your new battery tray and has to be connected before you put the tray in. I thought about bending but didnt have the courage!
See how you go without the photos (just waiting for the battery to charge )

4 eyes are better than 2!
This is the 6mm pipe I was chating about. One end into the chassis the other end (just on top of the wheel arch) connects to the larger rubber pipe from under the cannister.
