  • Few questions

First off, I'd better let you know about the car itself.

1997 Prado Grande Auto, running on duel fuel.

Firstly, there is the suspension. It is INCREDIBLY stiff. I go out to a farm everyday, and the road is, to put it nicely, awful. It is bone-jarringly hard. Everything rattles as you go over it. Most sedans and hatchbacks seem to handle bumps better. I'm not sure whether the shocks are gone, or if it just doesn't cope well off road. If I take it in to be serviced, and they say that they need to be replaced, what do you think the cost would be like? Ballpark guess, I'm not looking for exact numbers, just a rough idea of what I'll be looking at.

Secondly, there is about half a second of throttle delay when running on petrol. Is it just the lack of a service? Or could it be leading to something a bit more serious?

(Incase you couldn't tell, I'm not all that knowledgeable with cars )

$1500-2000 roughtly, depends on what system you go for.... If you install it yourself or get someone else to...

However, I suggest reading the 90 section that deals with suspension... You will find heaps of info in there already!!!

What pressure are you running in the tyres? Maybe they're too high for rough dirt roads.

Hi Fertro. Check the clearance between the front bump stops and the steel cups they hammer against. Mine was hard and gave a rough ride over bad roads and I discovered the springs had settled (yellow King's). Was still OK on sealed roads though. Cheers.

I would say it has the wrong suspension set up. You would need to get the shocks and springs replaced, tyre pressure would not make the ride bone jaring on dirt roads.
